Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff

Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff was born in San Francisco but lived most of his life in Paris and London. He attended Central St. Martens for a year before moving to Chicago in September of 2003. He finished his B.F.A. in Printmaking at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he also studied photography and video.

Zissou has also focused a lot of his work in painting, primarily using acrylic on canvas. He concentrates heavily on the labor involved in making art, along with exploring the different techniques within the printing medium.

Color is also a fascination of his, and this is reflected in all of his work, whether it is a print, photograph, or painting. Ranging from the iconic to the personal, all Zissou’s work is bound together by the use of color and intense.

For the past couple years he has been focused on building his own printing studio, which has helped strengthen his art work. Zissou has worked at Chicago Silk Screen, and the South Chicago Art Center as a teacher. Recently he has started private tutoring and continues to do commissions often he can.

“I am driven by the potential of infinite possibilities and combination with art. I have the viewpoint that my work can always be better and that the piece I just finished can and should lead me to make the next. Only by exploring and continuously making work can I try to fulfill my fascination with creating the perfect piece.”

Michael Lauritano

MichaelHaving hung around the studio for about a year, Michael has made himself indispensable in the form of a Studio Assistant. A 2007 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Michael Lauritano is currently on his way to becoming a distinguished salt-and-pepper haired gentleman at the fine age of 25. He refuses to take the bus, preferring instead to walk to work. Dividing his time between children’s book illustration and poster design, you can see his work at www.mlauritano.com and at mlauritano.deviantart.com. Michael is interested in making images that border on the surreal and demand a kind of intuitive storytelling from the viewer. At FugScreens, he plans to continue learning the art of screen-printing, poster design, and its surrounding business practices.
